Special thanks to Jean-François Fortin Tam, (Nekohayo on IRC) who submitted some icons for me to use on the new toolbar buttons. Any feedback would be appreciated.

The new link/unlink icons look good. 2 points I am more concerned about in the new gui design is the size of the clip icons (too big) and the position indicator in the clip view monitor. A small vertical line is fine. In your screenshot now, you can't tell the gigantic slider is really at the beginning of a clip.
Thanks for your comment. We're actually working to address some of these issues at the moment. The icons seem oversized because the timeline pane is undersized. I'm planning on adjusting the default arrangement of panes so that the timeline portion gets the larger share of the window. In the future we're planning to add some details to those drab little boxes: thumbnail previews, and some direct manipulation interpolation curves. You'll have a choice between the full-height version ("expanded") and smaller "collapsed" height.
I understand your frustration with the timeline sider. Unfortunately, writing a custom slider is a non-trivial task. Fortunately, the ruler on the timeline has it's own separate indicator, which is a thin, red line. The large slider under the viewer is going to go away pretty soon, so that we can get more space for the viewer. In addition, there will be keyboard shortcuts for seeking.
Nice Brandon, Indeed, for the clip view, you don't really need to see a timeline slider if you have the timeline open. Seeking shortcuts, may I opt for the avid and fcp defaults: j,k,l, being backward/play-pause/forward?
we've already created a clip split action icon in Art Libre set (see http://tango.freedesktop.org/ArtLibreSet) Fits the other tango-styled icons much better. Please feel free to use it.
I'm the one who made the 3 icons. I didn't know about the existence of the art libre set, and I agree with jimmac. Throw away my "split" icon and use that one instead.
As for the other 2 icons, let's way and see if there are other comments on them. If nobody complains about the metaphor/looks, then I could make pixel-perfect versions or something a bit prettier.

Jean-François> Is there a reason why you made them vertical? As the timeline strip is just above it, it feels more natural to have them horizontal...
